Fumihisa wins world cup ski jump event (AP)

Fumihisa Yumoto of Japan won his first World Cup ski jump meet of the season Sunday. Yumoto jumped 126 meters on his first attempt and didn’t have to defend the result after adverse weather forced the cancellation of the second jump. Simon Ammann of Switzerland, who won Saturday’s event, jumped 124.5 meters for second place and increased his lead in the World Cup standings.

Demitra scores pair as Canucks cool off Panthers with 5-3 win (The Canadian Press)

VANCOUVER, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks scored four times in eight minutes during a wild second period, including a pair of lucky goals from Pavol Demitra, to earn a come-from-behind 5-3 victory over the Florida Panthers on Sunday.
